Sacred Heart Parish-Flatonia Fall Festival
Sacred Heart Parish in Flatonia will hold its Fall Festival on Sunday, Oct. 3 starting with Mass at 10 a.m. A dinner featuring fried chicken, sausage, dressing and trimmings will be served starting at 10:30 a.m. (dine-in, drive-thru or walk-up) for $12 per plate.
Bingo will start at noon and a live auction will start at 1 p.m. Krazy Kirb DJ will provide music after the auction. There will also be a horseshoe tourney, country store, cake walk, silent auction, children’s games and sausage wraps.
Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish Festival, Hostyn
Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish, Hostyn, will hold its festival at the church grounds on Sunday, Oct. 3. Czech hymns at 9:30 a.m. will be followed by a polka Mass at 10 a.m. A fried chicken/sausage meal with trimmings will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a drive-thru line from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Plates will be $12 each.
The auction will begin at 1 p.m. There will be a country store, cake/plant wheels, silent auction, games, balloon artist, bingo at 1:30 p.m., magic show at 3 p.m. hamburgers, etc. Music will be provided by Texas Sound Check (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.) and Dujka Brothers (3:30 to 7:30 p.m.). Schulenburg VFD Auxiliary Smothered Steak Dinner
The Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will serve a drive-thru-only smothered steak dinner on Wednesday, Oct. 6 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the KC Hall. The plates ($10 each) will include a 6-oz. smothered steak in gravy, mashed potatoes, squash casserole, green beans with bacon, roll and cookie.

Rosary Crusade for America
St. Anne and St. Joseph Societies of High Hill will host a Rosary Crusade for America on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 10 a.m. at the gazebo on Main St.
St. Rose HSA Chicken/Sausage/Okra Gumbo Dinner
The St. Rose Home & School Association will serve a to-go-only gumbo dinner on Friday, Oct. 22 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Schulenburg Hall, 405 South St. The plates ($10 each) will have chicken, sausage and okra gumbo over rice, corn-on-the-cob, garlic bread and cookie. Hallettsville Sacred Heart HSA Apple Strudel Bake
Hallettsville Sacred Heart HSA will hold its apple strudel bake on Saturday, Oct. 30, with pickup at the Sacred Heart Family Center in Hallettsville from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Unbaked strudels will be $17 and ready-to-eat strudels will be $20.
