Hallettsville Market Days

Hallettsville Market Days will be held on Saturday, Nov. 20 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hallettsville KC Hall (rain or shine).  There will be a mix of indoor, covered pavilion and tree-lined shopping. Items include wood, metal and glass art; specialty food items; barbecue tools and knives; live plants; furniture and home décor; jewelry and purses; etc.

Knights of Columbus ‘Moo & Cluck’ Dinner

The Schulenburg Knights of Columbus will hold a drive-thru-only “Moo & Cluck” dinner on Sunday, Nov. 21 starting at 10:30 a.m. or when ready at the KC Hall. The $12 plates will include chicken fried steak cutlet & fried chicken breast with white gravy, mashed potatoes, cheesy broccoli/cauliflower blend and peaches. No reservations are necessary.

In addition, South Texas Blood Bank will have a blood drive from 8 a.m. to  p.m. on Nov. 21 in the KC Hall parking lot, and each donor will receive a free meal provided by the KCs. For more information, contact Ed Kusy at 979-743-5879.

The KCs will also hold their second annual food drive benefitting the Schulenburg Area Food Pantry on Sunday, Nov. 21. The KCs will be accepting non-perishable goods and/or monetary donations.

Community Thanksgiving Service

The Schulenburg Ministerial Alliance invites everyone to the Community Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, Nov. 21st at 6 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 209 N. Upton Ave. A light meal will follow worship.

Shorthorns Forever Association Online Auction

The Shorthorns Forever Association online auction continues through Wednesday, Nov. 24. Items can be viewed and bidders can register at charityauction.bid/shorthornsforever. Thanksgiving Holiday

Most local businesses will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 25. The City of Schulenburg will have holidays both Thursday and Friday, Nov. 25-26 and residential garbage pickup for the week will be as follows: north side of town on Tuesday, Nov. 23 (usual day); and south side of town on Wednesday, Nov. 24.

Fayette County offices  will be closed both Thursday and Friday, Nov. 25-26 and the Sticker will also be closed on Nov. 25-26.

Schulenburg Area Food Pantry Closed on Thanksgiving

The Schulenburg Area Food Pantry will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 26. The last day to get food in November will be Thursday, Nov. 18 from 9 to 11 a.m.

James Farek Memorial Golf Tournament

The James Farek Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, Nov. 27 at the Flatonia Golf Course, with a 9 a.m. tee time. The four-person scramble will be limited to 15 teams. Entry fee of $40 per person includes green fee; carts are additional $20 each. Flights will be made by scores. A chili supper will be held afterward. Sponsors are also being sought: $500+, driver; $300, iron; $200, chipper; $100, putter; $50, ball; and $25, tee. Checks should be made payable to Flatonia Golf Association, ref. Pigs-in-the-Blanket Sale benefitting St. Rose HSA

Pigs-in-the-blankets for the holidays (made with the same delicious recipe as the St. Rose cafeteria) can be ordered until Wednesday, Dec. 8. 

Cost is $18 a dozen and $10 half dozen. Baking will take place Dec. 9-10 and orders can be picked up on Friday, Dec. 10 by 3 p.m. at the St. Rose cafeteria. To place an order, call Carolyn at 979-743-4987 or Gina at 979-561-6815. Proceeds benefit St. Rose Home & School Association.

Christmas Ham Sale benefitting Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church

Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Dubina will hold a Christmas ham sale featuring smoked peppered hams prepared by Craig Mechura and crew. The hams (pre-sale only) average 6-8 lbs. and cost $50 each. Pickup will be Saturday, Dec. 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Dubina Hall.
