Dubina Parish Feast

Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church, Dubina, will hold its annual feast on Sunday, July 3, celebrating its 166th year. Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. A fried chicken/sausage meal with trimmings will be served starting at 11 a.m. Plates will be $12 for adults and $6 for children, with adult take-home plates available through an express to-go line.

Music from noon to 7 p.m. will be provided by Mark Halata & Texavia and Lost Cause Band. There will be entertainment/amusements all day, including an auction at 1:30 p.m., bingo from 2-6 p.m., antique/classic cars, washer tourney at 4 p.m. (registration 3 p.m.) and country store with Dubina cookbooks for sale. Hamburgers will be served in the evening.

St. John Parish Fourth of July Picnic

St. John Parish will hold its picnic on Monday, July 4 at the parish grounds in St. John. The “full old-time picnic” will start with Mass at 9 a.m. and a flag-raising at 10 a.m. A lunch of stew, fried chicken and trimmings (dine-in or take-home) will be served starting at 10:30 a.m. for $12 per plate. A free dance under the pavilion will also begin at 10:30 a.m. and feature Shiner Hobo Band, Dujka Brothers, Red Ravens and Mark Halata & Texavia. An auction will get under way at 12:30 p.m.

There will also be a country store, cake walk, ball throw, ring toss, sandpile, hamburgers, snow cones, etc. A fireworks show is set for 9:30 p.m.

Independence Day Holiday

Many local businesses will be closed on Monday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. All Fayette County offices and the City of Schulenburg will be closed on Monday, July 4.

The Sticker will be closed and the deadline for all materials for the Thursday, July 7 issue (ads, classifieds, articles, photos) will be Friday, July 1 at noon.

BRIDGE Meet-and-Greet Community Social

BRIDGE will host a meet-and-greet community social on Saturday, July 9 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the KC Hall. There will be vendors, games and prizes. The event is free to the public.

Knights of Columbus BBQ Pork Steak Dinner

The Schulenburg KCs will serve a drive-thru-only barbecue pork steak dinner on Sunday, July 10 from 10:30 a.m. until sold out at the KC Hall. Plates ($12 each) will include 14-16 oz. pork steak, giblet rice, green beans and coleslaw. Reservations are not necessary. 

First Baptist Church Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School at First Baptist Church of Schulenburg will be held Monday through Friday, July 11-15, beginning at 8:30 a.m. and dismissing at 11:30 a.m. each day.  Children who have finished kindergarten through those who have just finished fifth grade are invited and admitted free. 

Youngsters can get those creative juices flowing at Spark Studios™ where imagination is ignited and creativity is awakened. Whether kids are exploring their artistic side in the Bible Study Studio or Crafts Design Center, laying down a track at the Music Sound Stage, or bringing inventions to life at the Missions Workshop, they will learn, like King David, to use their talents to bring glory to God. They will discover that their creativity is a gift from the infinitely creative Creator who designed them for His glory.
