Texas Antique Gas Engine Reunion and Blacksmithing Conference

The Texas Antique Gas Engine Reunion and Texas Blacksmithing Conference will be held at the Texas Czech Heritage & Cultural Center, 250 West Fairgrounds Road, La Grange, on Friday, Jan. 26 starting at noon and Saturday, Jan. 27 starting at 9 a.m.

The event will feature antique stationary gas, steam, hot air and oil engines as well as blacksmithing demonstrations. There will also be vendors and a live auction. Wild Game Supper & Big Buck Contest Results

A wild game supper will be held on Saturday, Jan. 27 at the Hallettsville KC Hall, with the doors opening at 5 p.m. Crawfish, deer, duck, hog, birds, chili, sausage, duck gumbo, beans, wild rice, etc. will be served.

Hall admission of $12 includes the meal. The evening’s activities will also include Big Buck Contest results. Monster trophies will be displayed, commercial merchant exhibits will be set up under the pavilion, and prizes will be given away.

Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department Stew Supper

The Schulenburg VFD will serve a boneless beef stew supper on Thursday, Feb. 1 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the KC Hall. Cost is $13 each for the drive-thru-only plates. Tickets are available from any firefighter, or at Grahmann’s True Value, Fayette Savings Bank, Hrncir Oil, Schulenburg Printing or the Sticker. Deadline to buy tickets is Monday, Jan. 29. A limited amount of tickets will be sold at the hall.

Weimar Knights of Columbus Chicken Fried Steak Dinner

The Weimar KCs will hold a chicken fried steak dinner with sides on Sunday, Feb. 4 from 10 a.m. until sold out at the St. Michael Catholic Church Family Center in Weimar. Cost is $13 each for the drive-thru-only plates.

St. Rose of Lima Catholic School Gala

The St. Rose of Lima Catholic School gala, “Neon Lights,” will be held on Saturday, Feb. 10 at the Schulenburg KC Hall. Cocktail hour will start at 4:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6 p.m. There will also be live and silent auctions and music by the Fantastics Tickets are $75 each or $800 for a reserved VIP table for eight. Must be 21 or over. Tickets are pre-sale only and include hors d’oeuvres, dinner, open bar and live music. Weimar KCs Fried Catfish Dinners During Lent

Weimar Knights of Columbus Council 2153 will hold a drive-thru-only fried catfish dinner each Friday of Lent – Feb. 16, Feb. 23, March 1, March 8, March 15 and March 22 – from 5 to 7 p.m. or until sold out at the St. Michael Catholic Church Family Center in Weimar. Cost will be $13 per plate. The Catholic Daughters will be selling desserts.
