Garage Sale/Drive-thru Stew Plates at Swiss Alp Church

A garage sale and drive-thru stew plate pick-up will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22 at the United Evangelical Lutheran Church at Swiss Alp, located at 2038 FM 3171. 

The garage sale will begin at 9 a.m. and includes a variety of items including many new items from Heritage Hallmark in La Grange. The stew plate pick-up will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with $10 pre-sale tickets for the stew plates only. For tickets, contact Keely at 979-743-0653.

Chamber of Commerce Wine-O Bingo

Wine-O Bingo sponsored by the Greater Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22 at the Civic Center. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and bingo will start at 6:30 p.m.

Individual tickets will cost $20 and a reserved table for 8 will cost $140; only 250 tickets will be sold. Tickets are available at the Chamber office or by calling 979-743-4514. There will be 20 games or more, plus blackout with a big prize. Prizes will include wine, liquor and unique beers. Lots of door prizes will also be given. Persons must be age 21 or older to play. 

Coolers and snacks are welcome (BYOB). Food will be sold by the Common Threads Relay for Life Team. There will also be a table-decorating contest (decorating starts at 4:30 p.m.). 

Vsetin Czech Moravian Brethren Church Soup & Chili Supper

Vsetin Czech Moravian Brethren Church, 6 miles northeast of Hallettsville on FM 2314, will hold its annual chicken noodle soup and chili supper on Saturday, Feb. 22 starting at 5 p.m. in the Vsetin Educational Building. Dine-in will be all-you-can-eat. Also served will be homemade bread, kolaches and chicken salad sandwiches. Soup and chili to-go will be available. Free-will donations will be accepted.

KC Barbecue Pork Steak Dinner and STBTC Blood Drive

A drive-thru-only barbecue pork steak dinner will be served on Sunday, Feb. 23 starting at 10:45 a.m. at the KC Hall by the Schulenburg Knights of Columbus. Plates ($10 each) will include barbecue pork steak, vegetable rice, green beans and pickle. No reservations are necessary. 

In addition, the South Texas Blood & Tissue Center will have a blood drive from 8 a.m. to noon on Feb. 23 at the KC Hall parking lot and each donor will receive a free meal provided by the KCs. For more information, contact Ed Kusy at 979-743-5879.

‘Best Little Quilt Show in Texas’

The Colorado Valley Quilt Guild’s 23rd annual “Best Little Quilt Show in Texas” will be held Friday and Saturday, Feb. 28-29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the KC Community Center, 109 South Brown St., La Grange. Admission will be $8 per person.

Weimar Knights of Columbus Fried Catfish Dinners during Lent

Weimar Knights of Columbus Council 2153 will serve fried catfish plates each Friday of Lent – Feb. 28, March 6, 13, 20, 27 and April 3 – at the St. Michael Family Center in Weimar from 5 to 7 p.m. or until sold out. Cost will be $10 per drive-thru plate or $13 all-you-can-eat inside. In addition, the Catholic Daughters will be selling desserts.

St. Rose Spring Festival

The St. Rose spring festival will be held on Sunday, March 1 at the KC Hall. A turkey dinner with trimmings will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. costing $10 for adults and $4 for children, with adult drive-thru plates available.  There will also be a live auction at 11:30 a.m., cake walk, music, surprise packages, and drawing at 1 p.m.

Higher Dimensions Ministries Bible Study

Higher Dimensions Ministries holds Bible study at 701 Lyons Ave. in Schulenburg on Thursdays, with prayer beginning at 6:30 p.m. and the Bible study starting at 7 p.m.
