Knights of Columbus Barbecue Pork Steak Dinner
The Schulenburg KCs will serve a drive-thru-only barbecue pork steak dinner on Sunday, July 9 from 10:30 a.m. until sold out at the KC Hall. The plates ($12 each) will include 14-16 oz. pork steak, giblet rice, green beans and coleslaw. Reservations are not necessary.
First Baptist Church Vacation Bible School
First Baptist Church of Schulenburg invites children who have completed kindergarten through fifth grades to Vacation Bible School on July 10-14 from 8:30 until 11:30 a.m. each day. Children will enjoy games, music, crafts, and snacks, with the theme “Following Jesus Changes the Game.”

Weimar Youth Soccer Club summer camp, fall season
The Weimar Youth Soccer Club will hold free summer camp Monday, July 10 thru Friday, July 14 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Weimar Soccer Park for incoming 1st-8th graders. Registration is due by Thursday, July 6 and can be done online at https://tinyurl.com/campWYSC23.
Fall season games will be played Saturday mornings, Sept. 9 thru Oct. 14 at the Weimar Soccer Park. Practices will start Monday, Aug. 21, with times at the discretion of coach volunteers. Children must be ages 4-13 by Sept. 1, 2023 to participate. Cost is $45 and registration deadline is Tuesday, Aug. 1.
Participants will need to provide shin guards, black socks, black shorts, soccer cleats (no baseball cleats) and soccer ball. Ball sizes are pre-K4/ kindergarten, size 3; grades 1-3, size 4; and grades 4-8, size 5.

Taste of Columbus benefitting Boys & Girls Clubs
Taste of Columbus, featuring chef teams competing for Best Appetizer and Best Dessert, will be held on Friday, July 14 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Southern Oaks Event Center, 1368 Highway 71 Business, Columbus. Tickets will be $20 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under.

Schulenburg Chamber’s Wine-O Bingo
Wine-O Bingo, sponsored by the Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce, will be held on Saturday, July 15 at Svetlik Farm, 2616 FM 2672, Schulenburg. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and bingo will start at 6:30 p.m.
There will be 20 games or more plus a black-out with a big prize. Prizes will include wine, liquor and unique beers. Numerous door prizes will also be given. Must be age 21 or older to play. The event is BYOB and coolers/snacks are welcome. In addition, a table-decorating contest will be held starting at 4:30 p.m.
Individual tickets are $25 and a reserved table of eight is $175. Only 250 tickets will be sold. Tickets are available at the Chamber office or by calling 979-743-4514.
Ascension Parish Picnic in Moravia
Ascension Parish will hold its picnic on Sunday, July 16 on the parish grounds in Moravia. Picnic Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m.
A stew/fried chicken meal with trimmings will be served starting at 11 a.m. All plates will be $12. Drive-thru plates-to-go will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Music day and night will be furnished by Mark Halata & Texavia and Texas Sound Check. An auction will start at 1 p.m.
There will also be a cornhole tournament at 11 a.m., cake walk at noon, bingo from 1 to 5 p.m., country store, games, kids’ foam machine & water fun, hamburgers, refreshments, entertainment, etc.
