Tri-County Friends of NRA Event
The 20th annual Tri-County Friends of NRA event will be held on Friday, July 26 at the Schulenburg KC Hall. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for games, drawings, live auction and fun. Underwriting and donation opportunities are available for those who would like to help support this event.
Area organizations, law enforcement and others benefit from grants that go toward youth shooting programs, firearms safety and training, and more. All net proceeds from Friends of NRA events are allocated to The NRA Foundation. Through NRA Foundation grants for equipment, training materials, range improvements and more, qualified local, state and national programs receive aid to involve and inspire a new generation of competitive shooters. Early Childhood Screening
Early childhood screening for children ages 3-4 who have significant learning and communication delays and who live in the Schulenburg and Flatonia school districts will be held on Friday, Aug. 2 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 3 p.m. at the Schulenburg School District.

Fundraiser Benefit for Judy Glass
St. James Missionary Baptist Church will hold a fundraiser benefit for Judy Glass on Friday, Aug. 2 from 11 a.m. until sold out. Plates can be picked up at St. James Church, 1103 James Ave., or free delivery is available by calling 979-702-9230 or 832-433-4963 to set up a time/ location. The plates ($13 each) will include fried catfish, red beans, dirty rice or potatoes, sliced bread or hush puppies, coleslaw and cookies.
St. Michael Harvest Feast
The St. Michael Catholic Church Harvest Feast will be held on Sunday, Aug. 11 at Veterans Memorial Hall in Weimar. Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. A fried chicken/stew meal will be served starting at 11 a.m. for $13 per plate, with drive-thru plates at the St. Michael Family Center.
Music will be provided from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. by Shiner Hobo Band, The Lost Cause Band and The Bigfoot Wallace Band. An auction will be held at 1 p.m. and cornhole tourney at 4:30 p.m. There will also be bingo from 2-5 p.m., country store, treasure chest, ring toss, antique/classic car show, fish pond, train ride, plinko, ball throw, etc. Hamburgers, snow cones and a snack bar will be available.
