Holman Catholic Church Picnic
The annual picnic of St. Wenceslaus Church will be held on Sunday, Sept. 15 at the parish grounds in Holman on FM 155 between La Grange & Weimar. A drive-thru-only meal will be served starting at 10:30 a.m. for $13 per plate. The plates will have fried chicken, sausage, buttered potatoes, sauerkraut, green beans, pickle and dessert.
An online auction will also be held, with bidding from Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 9 a.m. through Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 8 p.m. Items can be viewed and bids placed at www.charityauction.bid/HolmanPicnic.
St. Joseph’s Church Picnic in Moulton
St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moulton will hold a picnic on Sunday, Sept. 15 at the St. Joseph’s Social Center. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at the church. A fried chicken/stew dinner will be served from 10:30 a.m. until sold out (dine-in, drive-thru plates-to-go and meat-to-go). Cost will be $14 per plate.
Music will be by Ken Brothers, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Fender Bender Band, 1:30 to 6 p.m. An auction will start at 1 p.m. There will also be train ride, ball throw, fish pond, ring toss, cake walk, plant walk, country store, etc. Hamburgers, snow cones, popcorn and more will be available.
Weimar Knights of Columbus Fried Catfish Dinner
Weimar KC Council 2153 will serve a hand-battered fried catfish dinner on Sunday, Sept. 22 from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. (or sold out) at the St. Michael Catholic Church Family Center in Weimar. Cost is $14 for the drive-thru-only plates. Catholic Daughters will be selling desserts.
Happy Tails benefitting Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter
The 2024 Happy Tails fundraiser benefitting the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter will be held at the Schulenburg KC Hall on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 6 to 10 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by Texas Unlimited Band. There will be dinner, dancing and silent/live auctions. To purchase tickets, use the QR code on the ad in this week’s issue.
St. Rose Round Up
The St. Rose of Lima Catholic School Roundup will be held on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 8 p.m. to midnight at Swiss Alp Hall, featuring a dance by the Matt Bonner Band and an auction.
