National Public Square Rosary at Downtown Gazebo on Oct. 12
The St. Anne Society and St. Joseph Society of St. Mary’s, High Hill, will host the annual America Needs Fatima National Public Square Rosary on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 10 a.m. at the gazebo on North Main Street.

Breast Cancer Awareness & Domestic Violence Victims Donations
A breast cancer awareness and domestic violence victims donations event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the downtown gazebo on North Main Street. Donations will be collected for individuals diagnosed with breast cancer and victims affected by domestic violence. The funds raised will go toward costs of routine check-ups, medications, mental health counseling services, shelters and necessities. For more information, contact Dr. Virginia Berry at 804-605-2664.
In addition, St. James Missionary Baptist Church will hold a breast cancer awareness and domestic violence program on Saturday, Oct. 19.
St. Rose Round Up
The St. Rose of Lima Catholic School Roundup will be held on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 8 p.m. to midnight at Swiss Alp Hall, featuring a dance by the Matt Bonner Band and an auction. Beer, wine and set-ups will be available. Tickets are $30 presale or $40 at the door; reserved seating is $50 presale or $60 at the door. For tickets, call 979-743-3080.
Church of the Visitation Picnic in Westphalia
The 117th annual picnic of Church of the Visitation in Westphalia will be held on Sunday, Oct. 13. Plates with homemade fried chicken, sausage, Westphalia noodles, green beans, slaw and cake will be $15 each. Serving will be from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. inside and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. drive-thru. Homemade sausage will also be available for purchase.
The Praha Brothers will provide music from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and an auction will start at 1 p.m. (items can be previewed on Facebook). There will also be games from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. including bingo, fish pond, train ride, etc. Little School Museum will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Shuttle service will be available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Schulenburg Literary Club Chicken Fried Steak Dinner
The Literary Club will hold a drive-thru-only chicken fried steak dinner on Wednesday, Oct. 16 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the KC Hall. The plates ($13 each) will include chicken fried steak with gravy, twice-baked potatoes, buttered green beans, coleslaw, dessert and roll.
Tickets are available at the Schulenburg Public Library, Apothecary Pharmacy, Schulenburg City Hall, Fayetteville Bank, Fayette Savings Bank, Hair Expressions and from any Literary Club member.
Schulenburg City-Wide Garage Sale
The Schulenburg city-wide garage sale will be held Friday and Saturday, Oct. 18 and 19. Contact the Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce at 979743-4514 to register a sale on the map.
Knights of Columbus Turkey Dinner and Blood Drive
Knights of Columbus Council 2902 will hold its 34th annualTurkey Fest on Sunday, Oct. 20 at the Schulenburg Hall. Plates with baked turkey, dressing and three sides will be served starting at 10:30 a.m. or when food is ready. Cost is $15 each for the drive-thru-only plates. Any extra food will be sold inside the hall no sooner than 12:30 p.m.
In addition, a blood drive will be held by the SouthTexas Blood &Tissue Center from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Bloodmobile. Anyone who gives blood will receive a free plate donated by the KCs. Zion Lutheran Church Stew Supper
The 32nd annual Zion Lutheran Church pre-deer season stew supper will be held Monday, Oct. 28 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran parking lot on Keuper St. The drive-thru-only meal will include stew, bread, crackers and dessert. The $12 tickets (presale only) are available at the church office or Sticker office.
RESCHEDULED – Ironman Challenge
The seventh annual Ironman Challenge (originally set for Saturday, Oct. 12) has been rescheduled for Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025.
The event includes Golf at the Flatonia Golf Course (4-person teams playing in a 9-hole scramble); Bowling at Tenth Frame Bowling Alley (3game total team score; 8 pin, no taps; and cornhole (single-elimination tournament at Adolf’s Bar). Team points will be awarded for placing in each event. Challenge winners will be awarded off total team points Cost is $75 per person or $300 for a team of four. Sponsorships are also being sought.
