Schulenburg Shopping Days

The Chamber of Commerce is promoting “Schulenburg Shopping Days” thru Friday, Dec. 20. To participate, spend at least $20 at five stores and receive a “shopping card.” The shopping card should be turned in to the Chamber office to be entered in a drawing for cash prizes. Cards are available at each merchant that is a Chamber member. For more information, call 979-743-4514.

Christmas Candlelight Service at Freyburg Methodist Church 

Everyone is invited to celebrate an old-fashioned country Christmas at the Freyburg Methodist Church Christmas candlelight service on Sunday, Dec. 22 at 6:30 p.m. The service will include lessons and carols.

Christmas Eve Service at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church 

St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church invites the public to its Christmas Eve service, “Lessons of the Carols,” on Tuesday, Dec. 24 at 5 p.m. Holy Communion will be given. The church is located at 712 Summit St. (corner of Hillje and Highway 90).

Christmas Dinner For Those Who Are Alone

The annual Christmas dinner for those who are alone will be held on Christmas Day, Wednesday, Dec. 25, from 11 a.m. until noon at the Schulenburg Hall, 405 South St.

Plates will be drive-thru, or the homebound can call the CCA Center, 979-743-4036, or Sheila Brossmann, 979-743-3576. RSVP is required by Sunday, Dec. 22. There will be a limit of two plates per family. The meal is sponsored by the Schulenburg KCs and volunteers.

Christmas, New Year’s Holidays

Most local businesses will be closed on Wednesday, Dec. 25 for Christmas and Wednesday, Jan. 1 for New Year’s.

City of Schulenburg offices will be closed bothTuesday andWednesday, Dec. 24-25 for Christmas and onWednesday, Jan. 1 for NewYear’s. During Christmas week, residential garbage pickup will be as follows: north side of town on Monday, Dec. 23 and south side of town on Thursday, Dec. 26 (usual day). Residents are asked to have their toters out by 6 a.m.

Fayette County offices will also be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 24-25 for Christmas and on Wednesday, Jan. 1 for New Year’s.

Sticker Will Not Be Published Dec . 26 

The Sticker will not have an issue on Thursday, Dec. 26, and staff will be on vacation from Friday, Dec. 20 through Thursday, Dec. 26.

In addition, due to the New Year’s holiday on Wednesday, Jan. 1, the deadline for the Thursday, Jan. 2 issue for all items – ads, classifieds, articles and photos – will be Friday, Dec. 27 at noon.
