Fish Fry Benefitting Black History Celebration
A fish fry will be held Friday, March 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wolters Park pavlion, with proceeds helping defray residual expenses from the Schulenburg Black History Month celebration.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Champion Valley ‘Best O’ Luck’ Bingo
The Boys & Girls Clubs of ChampionValley will host“Best O’Luck”bingo on Sunday, March 16 at The Oaks at High Hill near Schulenburg. Doors will open at 1 p.m. and bingo will start at 2 p.m. The event is BYOB and cash bar/snacks available or bring your own.
Tickets are $25 pre-sale and $30 that day.The ticket includes one bingo card; additional cards will be $5 each. Other options are $400 for an 8-top table which includes 16 bingo cards (2 per guest) and complimentary snacks/drinks; and $600 for a 12-top table which includes 24 bingo cards (2 per guest) and complimentary snacks/drinks. Relay For Life of Fayette County Bake Sale
A bake sale benefitting the Relay For Life of Fayette County will be held on Saturday, March 15 at City Market from 8 a.m. until sold out. The Relay For Life of Fayette County will be held Saturday, April 12 in La Grange.
Referrals Being Accepted for Gifted/Talented Program at SISD
Schulenburg ISD is planning for the Gifted/Talented program and accepting referrals for students in grades 1-5 who may need services. This program is designed for students who exhibit intellectual and creative thinking abilities at an extraordinary level not normally served in the regular classroom. Services are provided only upon identification of educational needs of the student.
The form must be returned to SISD by Friday, March 21. Nomination/ referral forms are available at each campus office and online through the school’s website at www.schulenburgisd.net.
Friends of the Schulenburg Public Library Book Sale
Friends of the Schulenburg Public Library will hold a book sale from Friday, March 21 through Saturday, March 29 during regular library hours. The books, priced starting at 50 cents, will include children’s, young reader, fiction, history, crafts, etc. The library is located at 310 Simpson St.
St. Rose Parish Drive-Thru Spaghetti Dinner
St. Rose of Lima Parish will have a drive-thru-only spaghetti dinner on Sunday, March 23 at the Schulenburg Hall starting at 10:30 a.m. or when food is ready to serve The plates will include spaghetti with a mound of sauce, garlic bread and fresh Italian salad. The authentic homemade spaghetti meat sauce will be made by Fr. Jasper Liggio and his brother Vincent Liggio. Cost will be $13 per plate and there will also be a bake sale.
Lions Club Nontraditional Student Scholarship
The Schulenburg Lions Club is offering one or more $2,000 nontraditional student scholarships. The scholarship can be used for secondary education, going back to school, graduate studies, work certifications, technical school, nursing programs, etc. Applicants must live in Schulenburg or work in Schulenburg and live in the surrounding area. Applications are available by calling the Chamber of Commerce at 979-743-4514 or at the Schulenburg Public Library. Applications must be submitted to the Chamber office by 4 p.m. on Friday, April 25.
