CANCELLED – Fundraiser for Black History Month Celebration
The barbecue fundraiser set for Saturday, May 3 at the Wolters Park pavilion to help defray residual expenses from the 2025 Black History Month celebration has been CANCELLED.
Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish Mayfest at Hostyn
Queen of the Holy Rosary Church at Hostyn will hold its Mayfest on Sunday, May 4 on the parish grounds. Mass will be held at 10 a.m. outdoors under a tent. A barbecue pork/sausage dinner with trimmings will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. , with drive-thru plates-to-go from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Cost will be $15 per plate. Texas Sound Check and Czechaholics will provide music. There will also be an auction (1 p.m.), bingo (1:30 to 5:30 p.m.), silent auction, games, country store, cake/plant wheels and drawings. Hamburgers will be sold after 3 p.m.

KC’s Mother’s Day Barbecue Chicken Dinner, Blood Drive
The Knights of Columbus will hold their annual Mother’s Day barbecue chicken dinner on Sunday, May 11 at the Schulenburg Hall starting at 10:30 a.m. or when the food is ready. The drive-thru-only plates ($14 each) will include 1/2 chicken, buttered potatoes and pinto beans.
In addition, the South Texas Blood Bank will hold a blood drive from 8 a.m. to noon in the hall parking lot. Each donor will receive a free meal provided by the KCs. For more information, contact Ed Kusy at 979-743-5879.
Schulenburg 4-H Rack of Ribs Fundraiser
Tickets are on sale for the fifth annual rack of ribs fundraiser for the Schulenburg 4-H Club. Cost is $30 per rack, which serves 3-4 people.
Drive-thru pickup will be on Friday, May 9 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at City Market, which is preparing the ribs. Tickets (pre-sale only) are available from any Schulenburg 4-H member or by contacting the club manager Dawn Hoffmann at 361-772-5843.
