St. James Missionary Baptist Church Fish Fry
St. James MBC will hold a building fundraiser fish fry on Friday, March 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with pickup at St. James MBC, 1103 James Ave. The $12 plates will include fried fish, two sides and dessert. To reserve plates, contact Rev. Andrew Stafford at 979-997-1207 or 210-475-1992.
Daylight Saving Time to Return on March 8
Daylight saving time will return on Sunday, March 8 at 2 a.m. Clocks should be set forward one hour.
Lions Club Nontraditional Student Scholarship
The Schulenburg Lions Club is offering one or more $2,000 nontraditional student scholarships. The scholarship can be used for secondary education, going back to school, graduate studies, work certifications, technical school, nursing programs, etc. Applicants must live in Schulenburg or work in Schulenburg and live in the surrounding area. Applications are available by calling the Chamber of Commerce at 979-743-4514 or at the Schulenburg Public Library. Applications must be submitted to the Chamber office by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18.
Referrals Being Accepted for Gifted/Talented Program at SISD
Schulenburg ISD is planning for the Gifted/Talented program and accepting referrals for students in grades 1-5 who may need services. This program is designed for students who exhibit intellectual and creative thinking abilities at an extraordinary level not normally served in the regular classroom. Services are provided only upon identification of educational needs of the student.
The form must be returned to SISD by Friday, March 20. Nomination/ referral forms are available at each campus office and online through the school’s website at www.schulenburgisd.net.
