St. Rose School Construction Showcase Event

Phase I and Phase II of construction at St. Rose of Lima Catholic School have been completed and the community is invited to a showcase on Friday, Aug. 7 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. highlighting the current and future visions for the school. The school is located at 405 Black St.

St. James Missionary Baptist Church Fish Fry

St. James MBC will hold a building fundraiser fish fry on Friday, Aug. 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with pickup at St. James MBC, 1103 James Ave. The $12 plates will include fried fish, two sides and dessert. To reserve plates, contact Rev. Andrew Stafford at 979-997-1207 or 210-475-1992.

St. Michael Harvest Feast

The St. Michael Catholic Church Harvest Feast will be held on Sunday, Aug. 9 at Veterans Memorial Hall in Weimar. Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. A fried chicken/stew meal will be served starting at 11 a.m. for $15 per plate, with drive-thru plates at the St. Michael Family Center.

Music will be provided from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. by Shiner Hobo Band, The Lost Cause Band and Southbound 955. An auction will be held at 1 p.m., bingo from 2-5 p.m. and a cornhole tournament at 4:30 p.m. There will also be a country store, treasure chest, ring toss, antique/classic car show, fish pond, train ride, plinko, ball throw, etc. Hamburgers, snow cones and a snack bar will be available.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Champion Valley Back-To-School Dinner 

Boys & Girls Clubs of Champion Valley will hold a back-to-school drive-thru-only dinner on Monday, Aug. 17 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at First Methodist Church, 209 North Upton Ave. The $15 plates will include chicken strips, macaroni and cheese, green beans with bacon, broccoli salad and roll. Desserts will be available for an “at-will donation.”

Tickets are available at the Schulenburg Boys & Girls Club, Schulenburg Chamber office and Fayette Savings Bank-Schulenburg. The dinner will coincide with Schulenburg ISD “meet the teacher” night and proceeds will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Champion Valley.

Judy Kubenka Benefit Fund
