Knights of Columbus Barbecue Pork Steak Dinner

The Schulenburg KCs will serve a barbecue pork steak dinner on Sunday, July 14 from 10:30 a.m. until sold out at the Schulenburg Hall. Cost will be $13 for the drive-thru-only plates, which will include a 14- to 16-ounce pork steak, giblet rice, black-eyed peas and coleslaw. Reservations are not necessary.

Community Outreach Praise & Worship Gathering

Community Outreach, a local church group in Schulenburg, invites everyone to come hear the word of God and fellowship with the congregation in praise and worship on Saturday, July 20 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Wolters Park pavilion.

Ascension Parish Picnic in Moravia

Ascension Parish will hold its picnic on Sunday, July 21 on the parish grounds in Moravia. Picnic Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m.

A stew/fried chicken meal with trimmings will be served starting at 11 a.m. All plates will be $13. Drive-thru plates-to-go will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Music day and night will be furnished by Mark Halata & Texavia and Texas Sound Check. An auction will start at 1 p.m.

There will also be a cake walk opening at noon, bingo from 1 to 5 p.m., country store, games, kids’ foam machine and water fun, hamburgers, refreshments, entertainment, etc.

Summer Bridge Program

A Summer Bridge Program, presented by ACCSS and BRIDGE, will be offered in two sessions – Tuesday, July 23 through Thursday, July 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Columbus High School, 103 Cardinal Lane, and Monday, July 29 through Wednesday, July 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Blinn College-Schulenburg campus, 100 Ranger Drive.

Students in grades 8-12 are invited. Lunch will be provided. Limited transportation is available. Topics covered will be time management, study skills, literacy skills, mental health and more. TSIA2 Prep will be offered immediately after the program for interested students.

ACCSS is a partnership between Blinn College District and students in Columbus, Fayetteville, Flatonia, Moulton, Schulenburg andWeimar ISDs.

The Summer Bridge Program is also funded by grants from Second Chance Emporium and Texas Rural Communities.
