Hallettsville Sacred Heart HSA Apple Strudel Bake
The Hallettsville Sacred Heart HSA will hold its 71st annual apple strudel bake on Saturday, Oct. 14. Cost is $22 ready-to-eat and $18 unbaked.
Pickup will be at the Sacred Heart Family Center in Hallettsville from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 14.

National Public Square Rosary at Downtown Gazebo on Oct. 14
The St. Anne Society and St. Joseph Society of St. Mary’s Parish, High Hill, will host the annual America Needs Fatima National Public Square Rosary on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 10 a.m. at the gazebo on North Main Street.

Polka Lovers Club of Texas Museum Event
The Polka Lovers Club of Texas Museum in La Grange will celebrate donors, sponsors and community partners at an event on Saturday, Oct. 14 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fair Pavilion on the Fairgrounds in La Grange.The schedule includes gathering, 11 a.m.; Mass by Fr. Jared Cooke 11:30 a.m.; buffet lunch, 12:30 p.m.; music/dance by Ennis Czech Boys starting at 1:30 p.m.; adjournment, 4 p.m.; and museum open house, 4 to 6 p.m. There will also be a silent auction (bring an item).

Knights of Columbus Turkey Dinner and Blood Drive
Knights of Columbus Council 2902 will hold its 33rd annual Turkey Fest on Sunday, Oct. 15 at the Schulenburg Hall. Turkey and dressing with all the trimmings will be served starting at 10:30 a.m. or when food is ready. Cost is $15 each for the drive-thru-only plates. Any extra food will be sold inside the hall no sooner than 12:30 p.m.
In addition, a blood drive will be sponsored by the South Texas Blood &Tissue Center from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Anyone who gives blood will receive a free plate donated by the KCs. Community Resources Fair at Schulenburg ISD
The Fayette County Shared Service Arrangement (FCSSA) will sponsor a community resources fair on Tuesday, Oct. 17 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the Schulenburg ISD old gym. Some of the vendors that will be available are And Then, Blinn College, Turtle Wing Foundation, Bluebonnet Trails, etc.
The LID students have also created some items that can be purchased that night.
St. Rose HSA Chicken/Sausage/Okra Gumbo Dinner
The St. Rose Home & School Association will serve plates with chicken/ sausage/okra gumbo over rice, corn-on-the-cob, garlic bread and cookie on Friday, Oct. 20 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Schulenburg Hall.

Zion Lutheran Church Stew Supper
The 31st annual Zion Lutheran Church pre-deer season stew supper will be held Monday, Oct. 30 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran parking lot on Keuper St.The carryout-only meal will include stew, bread, crackers and dessert. The $10 tickets (presale only) are available at the church office or Sticker office.
First Baptist Church Fall Fun Fair
A Fall Fun Fair for youngsters elementary school age and younger will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 31 from 5 to 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 110 N. Upton Ave., Schulenburg.
The free event will feature bounce houses, trunk-or-treat, a photo booth, games, hayrides, hot dogs, popcorn, candy, etc. For more information, call 979-743-3621.
Sunset Shopping in Schulenburg on Nov. 4
“Sunset Shopping in Schulenburg” will take place on Nov. 4 (the first Saturday of the month). Join Schulenburg businesses from 4 to 8 p.m. for an evening of fun, fellowship and early Christmas shopping with discounts.
Refreshments will be served at selected locations. Each purchase will earn tickets for a gift basket drawing at Joe’s Hometown Hangout at 8:45 p.m.
