Christmas Tree Decorating Contest

Public voting is under way  through Dec. 12 in the Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce third annual Christmas tree decorating contest at Momma’s at Sengelmann, 531 North Main St., during the restaurant’s regular business hours. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners.

Chamber of Commerce ‘Shop Schulenburg’ Promotion

The Chamber of Commerce is holding “Shop Schulenburg” through Friday, Dec. 20. Entry cards are available from participating retailers. A person must spend at least $20 at five different locations and get the entry form signed at each. The card must be turned in to the Chamber office by 4 p.m. on Dec. 20 to be entered in a drawing for gift cards or cash prizes. The list of participating business can be found in an ad in this issue. Christmas Bazaar & Special Olympics Silent Auction at SISD

The Fayette County Shared Service Arrangement will hold a Christmas bazaar and Special Olympics silent auction on Friday, Dec. 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the hallway of the Fayette County Shared Service Arrangement Building, 104 Shorthorn Drive, on the SISD campus.  

Some of the items that have been donated to the auction are an Apple Watch Series 3; Fitbit; bird feeder/seed; gift certificates from JJ’s Kitchen, Sirilo’s, Arlan’s and H&P Nails; shirt/cap from Schulenburg Printing;  home decorations; kitchen items; prints; flat tire repair set; Potter Pecan gift basket; hair products gift basket; headphones; and more. The students also made crafts and sweets that can be purchased.

St. Rose School’s ‘Christmas Around the World’

St. Rose of Lima Catholic School will present its annual “Christmas Around the World” on Saturday, Dec. 14 at the KC Hall. A children’s Christmas pageant will be held at 4:30 p.m. and a beef stew dinner (dine-in or take-out) will be served starting at 5:30 p.m. The International Food Court will open at 5:30 p.m. featuring foods from around the world (America, Germany, Mexico, Ireland, Czech Republic). A German auction will start 30 minutes after the children’s pageant, with a Drama Club play after the auction. There will also be a children’s carnival with inflatable playground, carnival games, and toy & cake walk.

Weimar Knights of Columbus Chicken Fried Steak Dinner

The Weimar Knights of Columbus will serve a chicken fried steak dinner on Sunday, Dec. 15 from 10:30 a.m. until sold out at the St. Michael Catholic Church Family Center in Weimar. 

Cost will be $10 each for the drive-thru-only plates. There will also be a sportsman drawing.

Christmas Dinner For Those Who Are Alone

The annual Lions Club & Schulenburg KC Council 2902 Christmas dinner for those who are alone will be served on Christmas Day from 11 a.m. until noon at the KC Hall. Plates will be served at the hall, or the homebound can call the CCA Center, 979-743-4036, or Sheila Brossmann, 979-743-3576. RSVP is required by Sunday, Dec. 22.  There will be a limit of two plates per family.
