STAG CHRISTMAS PARTY
The “stag” Christmas party will be held on Thursday, Dec. 4 at the Schulenburg KC Hall. Doors will open at 6 p.m. There will be drinks/snacks and a meal will be served at 7 p.m. A nominal fee will be charged to cover the costs.
Throughout the evening, attendees can socialize, watch the Dallas Cowboys vs. Detroit Lions and possibly NFR first rodeo night, and play tarocks, dominoes and card games.
This event is a tradition dating back to the 1950s when grocery salesmen who worked this area wanted to have a fun evening with their customers and friends; thus it was called the Salesman Stag Christmas Party. Since that time, the word “salesman” was dropped as many felt that only salesmen could attend. In its heyday, attendance was 100-plus strong.After a few years of declining attendance, there was talk that the event would no longer be held. But the event regained traction from 2015-18 and it is hoped in 2025 to continue this longtime tradition.
Hermann Sons Life
Hermann Sons Life will hold its Christmas party on Wednesday, Dec. 10 starting at 5 p.m. at Oakridge Restaurant.
Each member is asked to bring a $15 wrapped gift for the scholarship fund drawing.
