The Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with Union Pacific Railroad, sponsored an art contest entitled “Have You Painted Yet?”
This first-ever contest for the Schulenburg area began on Nov. 28 with registration. Each of the following days, Nov. 29 through Dec. 1, artists traveled around the Schulenburg/Fayette Country area painting scenes from the beautiful countryside in two categories – Schulenburg-at-large and Painted Churches.
On Saturday, Dec. 2, the artists came to Schulenburg’s downtown to complete their final contest entry, a “quick draw” piece of artwork. Their work was then judged, and prizes were awarded to the winners.
