Weimar Community Book Club

The Weimar Community Book Club will meet on Monday, Feb. 9 at 6 p.m. at the Weimar Public Library.

Retired Teachers

The Fayette County Retired Teachers Association will meet on Monday, Feb. 9 at the New Life Methodist Church, 1215 Von Minden Road in La Grange, at 1:45 p.m.

Guest speaker will be Sgt. Detective Angela Lala of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, speaking about the prevention of cybercrime and identity theft. All retired teachers and school personnel are welcome to attend.

Schulenburg Lions Club 

The Lions Club will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 11:45 a.m. at the Schulenburg Public Library.

The speaker is will be a representative from Parents As Teachers.

Hermann Sons Life

Hermann Sons Life Lodge 14 will meet on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at Oakridge Restaurant in Schulenburg. Social time will start at 5:30 p.m. and dinner and the meeting will begin at 6 p.m.

Czech Society Soup Social Rescheduled

The Fayette County Czech Heritage Society’s new date for the annual soup social is Sunday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. at the Texas Czech Heritage & Cultural Center in La Grange.

Members are asked to bring a big pot of their favorite soup or few sandwiches or dessert to share. New potential members and/or guests are always welcome. Vítáme Vás!

The soup social, originally set for Sunday, Jan. 25, was rescheduled due to inclement weather.

Republican Women

The public is invited to attend the Fayette County Republican Women general meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club, 575 Country Club Drive in La Grange. Check-in begins at 10:30 a.m. Lunch is available for $20.

Speaker will be Brendan Steinhauser of The Alliance For Secure AI, a nonprofit that educates the public about the implications of advance AI. The Alliance spreads the message about the serious challenges advanced AI poses and offers ideas for solutions. It serves as an information-sharing and coordination hub, so that advocates can drive strong messages that resonate when it matters most.
