Young Farmers The Schulenburg Young Farmers will have their monthly meeting on Tuesday, July 26 at 7 p.m. at the Schulenburg Expo Center.  A guest speaker from Kids, Cows & More will give a presentation. Chairman is Mark Vecera.

Local library receives memorials, new books

The hot summer is here so the Schulenburg Public Library invites everyone to stay out of the Texas heat by dropping by to check out a cool book. The library has added some great, interesting fiction and nonfiction books.

CVQG to have pincushion kits available at meeting

Everyone is welcome to join the Colorado Valley Quilt Guild on Tuesday, July 26 at 10 a.m. for a program by quilter and teacher Jamie Parker. Parker is owner of High Cotton Quilting in Lampasas, and will have Sit & Stitch Pincushion kits available for purchase.

New exhibit now open at ARTS Gorman Gallery in Schulenburg

A unique exhibition of paintings by La Grange artist John Schaeffer opened at the ARTS Gorman Gallery in Schulenburg on Saturday, July 16 and will remain on display until Saturday, Sept. 10.

Ascension Parish Picnic in Moravia Ascension Parish will hold its picnic on Sunday, July 17 on the parish grounds in Moravia. Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m.  A stew/fried chicken meal with trimmings will be served starting at 11 a.m. All plates will be $12.

REUNIONS

Dieringer The 28th Damian and Alousia Dieringer family reunion will be held Saturday, July 16 at the Schulenburg KC Hall starting at 1 p.m.   Attendees should bring a dessert to share with the family, along with auction items and silent auction items.

SWISS ALP/DUBINA/AMMANNSVILLE FB The Swiss Alp/Ammansville/Dubina Farm Bureau Local will host family night starting at 6 p.m. on  Tuesday, July 19 at the Swiss Alp Farm Bureau building on Highway 77.

ARTS show to open here Sat.

Arts for Rural Texas’ new gallery show at the ARTS Gorman Gallery in Schulenburg will open on Saturday, July 16 from 4 to 6 p.m. The gallery is located at 1201 S. Kessler. Exhibition dates are July 16 to Saturday, Sept. 10.

BRIDGE invites public to meet-and-greet July 9

BRIDGE will present a meet-and-greet community social on Saturday, July 9 at the KC Hall, 405 South St., Schulenburg. Doors will be open to the public from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The meet-and-greet will be hosted by the executive directors of BRIDGE: LaKeisha Brown-Moore, Rebecca Powe and LaToya Ray.
