Literary Club hosts Garsee for program, book-signing

The Schulenburg Literary Club met on Tuesday, Oct. 12 at Lucy Tequila’s Restaurant. Prior to lunch, member Katrina Packard Elvig introduced her friend and former schoolmate, LinMarie Garsee, who presented an interesting program along with a book-signing.

Hermann Sons Life keeps same officers for 2022

The Hermann Sons Life Lodge 14 meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 13 was opened with a prayer before the meal that was purchased from the Hermann Sons Life dance class fundraiser. Twenty-seven members were in attendance.

NVCW to meet Oct. 27 in Columbus

The next meeting of Navidad Valley CattleWomen will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 27 at Los Cabos Mexican Grill in Columbus (2543 Highway 71 South). Members will gather at 6 p.m. Supper will be Dutch-treat. The speaker will be Cheryl Hudec Pekar who is on the board of Fayette Community Foundation.

VVA Chapter 870 members visit D.C.

Seven members of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870 were treated to a fantastic trip to Washington, D.C. on Sept. 24-25 by Honor Flight Austin.

KJT Society Challenge Turkey Shoot set Oct. 24

The KJT St. Augustine Society 129 in Schulenburg will hold its annual Society Challenge Turkey Shoot on Sunday, Oct. 24 at Tofel’s Place in Ammannsville. The turkey shoot will start at 1 p.m. and will include open rounds available to the public.

YOUNG FARMERS The Schulenburg Young Farmers will hold their monthly meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. at the Schulenburg Expo Center.   This will be the annual planning meeting for program ideas for the 2021-22 year. The membership year starts in October and yearly dues are $30 per person.

The Navidad Valley Community Connections senior center has a full calendar for October and is hard at work on firming up the November calendar as the holiday season approaches. Speakers for the month are lined up, but NVCC is always looking for more topics to cover.
