With a not-so-new head coach, the Shorthorns won three of their first five games to start the 2026 season last week.
After a 4-1 loss to Edna on Tuesday in the opener, the Horns went 3-1 in their tournament Thursday and Friday. They downed Burton 5-4, lost to Industrial 9-2, defeated Falls City 15-2, and beat Port Aransas 12-1 (see box scores at the end of this article).
