Rogers visits for Horns’ home opener

Two 0-1 teams will meet this Friday night at David Husmann Memorial Stadium. While Schulenburg suffered a 22-point loss to Randolph on the road to open the season, Rogers fell at home to Little River Academy 48-20. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

SHORTHORN JUNIOR VARSITY FOOTBALL

The junior varsity Shorthorns started their season with a 26-0 win over Randolph last Thursday,Aug. 24 at David Husmann Memorial Stadium. Eric Netro recovered a RoHawk fumble which led to a 3-yard Tavondrick Ellison touchdown run. The two-point conversion was successful on a run by Mason Kunschick.

Lady Horns fall to Bellville before going 4-3 in local tournament

After a loss on the road against Class 4A Bellville last Tuesday, the Lady Horns won their first four matches of the Lady Horn Classic on Thursday and Friday. Three of those victories came over 3A schools with the fourth against district rival Weimar.

Shorthorns out-score two opponents 27-0 in three-team scrimmage Aug. 17

In their final tuneup for the 2023 season, the Shorthorns out-scored Yorktown and Bartlett 27-0 at David Husmann Memorial Stadium last Thursday, Aug. 17. The Wildcats and Bulldogs were held to 144 total yards on 37 plays by Schulenburg’s defense for an average of 3.9 yards per snap.

SHS cross country teams start season in Yoakum

Horns travel to Randolph this Friday

The Shorthorns start the 2023 football season on the road this Friday, Aug. 25 when they travel to Universal City Randolph. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. The Ro-Hawks are coming off a 9-3 season, including a 4-2 district mark.
