Methodical marches, dogged defense lead to 35-0 win

With time-consuming drives on offense and quick stops on defense, the Shorthorns posted a 35-0 win over Hallettsville Sacred Heart in their opener last Friday at David Husmann Memorial Stadium.Although Schulenburg didn’t have a play go for over 30 yards, it averaged 7.

Lady Horns win silver bracket of Goliad event

After a four-set win at Burton last Tuesday, the Lady Horns went 3-2 at the Goliad Tournament to up their season record to 16-8.Schulenburg dropped the first on Aug. 27 but then prevailed in the next three.

Horns travel to Rogers this Friday

Coming off their 35-0 win at home to start the season, the Shorthorns will take to the road this Friday, Sept. 6 and make the two-hour trip to Rogers.Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. The Class 3A Division II Eagles lost their opener 56-42 against 3A Division I Groesbeck.

The junior varsity Shorthorns started their season with a 16-13 win at Rice Consolidated last Thursday.Colton Richburg started the scoring for Schulenburg with a 1-yard run. He passed to Caden Herzik for the two-point conversion.
