Combined Community Action’s “Meals on Wheels,” located at First Baptist Church, serves frozen congregate meals or frozen meals to the homebound.Meals should be ordered two weeks in advance and will be delivered to the homebound, or may be picked up at the center on Mondays.

St. Rose Altar Society has monthly meeting Jan. 19

The St. Rose Altar Society held its monthly meeting on Monday Jan. 19 in the meeting room of the Family Life Center.President Ann Florus called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and led the prayer and pledge of allegiance. The minutes were approved as read by Sheila Brossmann.

The Gardenia E. JanssenAnimal Shelter hours of operation are as follows: open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday for all normal operations.On Monday, the shelter is closed to the public but staff is on-site for animal care from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

As I write this article, a winter storm is bearing down on our nation. Hopefully the damage from this storm will be minimal. And we are certainly grateful for those who keep our electric grid running with the increased demands caused by freezing temperatures.

Second Chance Emporium (SCE) recently donated $10,000 to the Schulenburg Area Food Pantry. Monies granted will fund the purchase of a new three-glass-door cooler.
