Blood drives at KC dinners save 2,249 lives in 7 yrs.

In conjunction with drivethrough dinners held by Schulenburg Knights of Columbus Council 2902, South Texas Blood & Tissue from Victoria has been holding blood drives since 2018 at the Schulenburg Hall parking lot.

Combined CommunityAction’s “Meals on Wheels,” located at First Baptist Church, serves frozen congregate meals or frozen meals to the homebound. Meals should be ordered two weeks in advance and will be delivered to the homebound, or may be picked up at the center on Mondays.

Local Food Pantry serves 141 families during April

The Schulenburg Area Food Pantry served 141 families in April with a total of 442 individuals. The Pantry had three new clients with 16 individuals in those families. The amount of food given out was 7,965 pounds. Food donated was 2,865 pounds. The volunteer hours were 330.

The Gardenia E. JanssenAnimal Shelter took in 75 dogs and cats in need during the week of April 26 to May 2, and jumped from 102 in care to 155 in care in seven days.As of May 2, total intake for 2025 stood at 576 – 297 dogs and 279 cats in need.
