The Gardenia E. JanssenAnimal Shelter took in 75 dogs and cats in need during the week of April 26 to May 2, and jumped from 102 in care to 155 in care in seven days.As of May 2, total intake for 2025 stood at 576 – 297 dogs and 279 cats in need.

The Swiss Alp United Evangelical Lutheran Church congregation, along with Pastor Lemae Higgs, has donated 87 pounds of non-perishable food plus $100 to the Schulenburg Area Food Pantry. This was the church’s Lenten Wood Drive. Jack Niesner, pantry vice president, is shown delivering the food items to the pantry.
