As of April 25, total intake for 2025 at the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter stood at 498 – 254 dogs and 244 cats in need.As of April 25, the shelter had 102 animals in its care – 54 dogs and 48 cats.

Catholic Daughters hold biennial state convention

The 54th biennial Catholic Daughters of the Americas state convention was held April 23-27 at the Sheraton Hotel in Dallas.The theme was “Where God guides, He provides.

As of April 18, total intake for 2025 at the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter stood at 444 – 235 dogs and 209 cats in need.As of April 18, the shelter had 96 animals in its care – 60 dogs and 36 cats.

CCA Meals

CCA “Meals on Wheels,” located at First Baptist Church, serves frozen congregate meals or frozen meals to the homebound.Meals should be ordered two weeks in advance and will be delivered to the homebound, or may be picked up at the center on Mondays. Warm meals may be served on Mondays and Tuesdays.

CASA gives reminders during Child Abuse Prevention Month

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and CASA of Bastrop, Fayette & Lee Counties is raising awareness of the need for more dedicated members of the community to step up and become CASA volunteers, and help end child abuse and neglect, through supporting children and their families.
