Funeral services for Williams "Dean" McKennon, age 71, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus.Interment will follow in Lakeside Cemetery in Eagle Lake.Visitation will be on Friday, April 18, 2025 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Second Chance Emporium (SCE) recently donated $10,000 to the Mary Gray Foundation (MGF). Monies granted will fund the MGF pottery program which will include setting up a clay studio and the purchase of equipment, tools, clay and glazes.

Combined CommunityAction’s “Meals on Wheels,” located at First Baptist Church, serves frozen congregate meals or frozen meals to the homebound.Meals should be ordered two weeks in advance and will be delivered to the homebound, or may be picked up at the center on Mondays.

Abigail Smrkovsky (front) donated 12 units of items necessary to make a birthday cake for the school-age children whose families use the Schulenburg Area Food Pantry. She gave the cake pan, cake mix, icing, candles, oil and birthday themed paper products.

Come by the shelter to visit the puppies! The shelter could always use volunteers, foster homes, puppy bathers, story readers and adopters! Doc and Happy are only two of the puppies currently living at the shelter. They are terrier mixes around 8 weeks old. They are as cute as can be!
