Second Chance Emporium (SCE) recently donated $15,000 to the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC). Monies donated will be used to fund various operational costs for the La Grange satellite office.

Sr. Connections kicks off a week of fun, fellowship

The spirit of community is alive and well at Senior Connections, where members from Schulenburg, Weimar and Flatonia will celebrate the holiday season with a week full of engaging activities, delicious food and valuable learning opportunities.Monday, Dec.

As of Dec. 6, total intake at the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter stood at 1,606 for the year – 717 dogs and 889 cats in need.As of Dec. 6, the shelter had 123 animals in its care – 64 dogs and 59 cats. For 2024, the shelter continues to average 32 animals incoming each week.

Local Food Pantry serves 144 families in November

The Schulenburg Area Food Pantry served 144 families in November with a total of 458 individuals. The Pantry had two new clients with a total of two individuals. The amount of food given out was 8,082 pounds. Food donated was 8,299 pounds. The volunteer hours were 329.

Polka Lovers Club Museum sets Christmas open house

The Polka Lovers Club of Texas Museum (PLCTM) will host the annual Christmas open house on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The public is invited to help museum board members and volunteers bring in the holidays with polka-style music, dancing and refreshments throughout the day.
