Funeral services for Edwin Ryba, Jr., age 76, of Schulenburg will be held Satuday, April 20, 2024 at 2 p.m. from the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Schulenburg. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. at the church with the Parish Rosary to be recited at 1:30 p.m.

CCA Meals

Combined CommunityAction’s “Meals on Wheels,” located in the Civic Center, serves frozen congregate meals or frozen meals to the homebound. Please call 979-743-4036 two weeks in advance for the meals, which will be delivered to the homebound or may be picked up at the center on Mondays.

BRIDGE to host program on mental/physical health

BRIDGE will present “Shifting Our Crowns – Focusing on Mental and Physical Health” on Saturday, April 27 at First United Methodist Church, 209 North Upton Ave., Schulenburg. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m. and the event will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. The public spoke, and BRIDGE listened!

Sr. Connections: gathering place for active seniors

Senior Connections is going through changes, with director Cindy Villarreal announcing her retirement, and is asking for everyone’s patience. Senior Connections has hired Stephanie Shroyer, whose title will be program director.

Local Food Pantry serves 134 families in March

The Schulenburg Area Food Pantry served 134 families in March with a total of 400 individuals. The Pantry had six new clients with a total of 25 individuals. The amount of food given out was 7,488 pounds. Food donated was 2,299. The volunteer hours were 332.

Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter statistics

In the first quarter of 2024, the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter took in 59 puppies and 50 kittens under the age of 3 months. As of March 29, total intake at the shelter stood at 350 for the year – 193 dogs and 157 cats in need.
