Animal Shelter statistics

As of Dec. 15, total intake at the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter stood at 1,559 for the year– 730 dogs and 829 cats in need. As of Dec. 15, the shelter had 88 animals in its care – 33 dogs and 55 cats.

FUNERAL NOTICE - Elroy James Wick

Funeral services for Mr. Elroy James Wick, age 79, of Weimar will be held Monday, Dec. 18, 2023 at 10 a.m. from the St. Michael Catholic Church in Weimar, Texas. Visitation will begin Sunday at 4 p.m.

Second Chance announces holiday hours

Second Chance Emporium in La Grange will have the following 2023 holiday schedule: Sales Store •Open Friday, Dec. 15, Saturday, Dec. 16 and Friday, Dec. 22 – Hours 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. •Closed Saturday, Dec. 23, Friday, Dec. 29 and Saturday, Dec. 30.

Christmas give-aways on Dec. 16 announced

St. James Missionary Baptist Church and its pastor, Rev. Andrew E. Stafford, are presenting a Christmas season give-away consisting of 50 turkey dinners/ gift cards. This will take place on Saturday, Dec. 16 from 1 to 5 p.m.

As of Dec. 8, total intake at the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter stood at 1,531 for the year– 710 dogs and 821 cats in need. As of Dec. 8, the shelter had 88 animals in its care – 38 dogs and 50 cats.

Local Food Pantry serves 169 families during Nov.

The Schulenburg Area Food Pantry served 169 families in November with a total of 504 individuals. The Pantry had eight new clients with a total of 29 individuals. The amount of food given out was 9,064 pounds. Food donated was 7,219 pounds. The volunteer hours were 343.
