Schulenburg Secondary gets PPE bags from Jordan Ranch

Jordan Ranch has presented Schulenburg Secondary School with PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) bags which include masks, hand soap and hand sanitizer. Representatives from Jordan Ranch meet each week with students who are part of the THRIVE mentor program. Anyone who would like to mentor a student is asked to please call Heather Pavlu at 979-743-4221 for more information.

The first nine weeks of school have flown by! I can’t believe we are already halfway through the first semester. I would like to start off by saying, I cannot be prouder of the staff and students here at Schulenburg ISD.

Blessing of the Animals

St. Rose of Lima Catholic School held its annual Blessing of the Animals on Friday, Oct. 2. The eighth grade students led a prayer service in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals, whose feast day is observed each year on Oct. 4. Following the service, Rev. Timothy Kosler walked through the crowd and blessed each of the pets with Holy Water.

Grow Wings 4-H to hold initial meeting Oct. 22

A new 4-H club called the “Grow Wings Club” has been formed in the area and its first meeting will be on Thursday, Oct. 22 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Turtle Wing Foundation office in Schulenburg at 723 Upton Ave.

Fayette Co. Jr. Livestock Show tag-ins set Oct. 20

The lamb/goat tag-in and steer tag-in for the Fayette County Junior Livestock Show have been scheduled as follows: LAMB/GOAT All 4-H and FFA members in Fayette County who plan to show lambs and/or goats at the Fayette County Junior Livestock Show must tag in their animals on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in La Grange between 4 and 6 p.m.
