Czech, German classes set on Saturdays at library

The Schulenburg Public Library will offer basic Czech and German classes on Saturday mornings starting Feb. 7. The classes are free. Czech will be offered from 9:30 to 10 a.m. and German will be offered from 10 to 10:30 a.m.

The Shorthorn seventh grade boys won Gold in the Flatonia Junior High Tournament held on Saturday, Jan. 10, improving their overall record to 8-0.

New endowed scholarship at Blinn honors Ellen Ellison

Ellen Ellison’s love of teaching – and horticulture – are being recognized through a new endowed scholarship given in her memory by her husband Jim Ellison, who gifted $35,000 to the Blinn College Foundation. She died in 2021. First preference will be given to students majoring in horticulture.
