ARTS hosting storyteller at local library June 27

Arts for Rural Texas (ARTS), in partnership with the Schulenburg Public Library, will present a special performance for the Summer Reading Program with storyteller Bernadette Nason on Friday, June 27 at 10:15 a.m. at the Schulenburg Public Library.

Festival Pageant entry forms ready for pick-up

The Schulenburg Festival Scholarship Pageant has been set for Saturday, July 19 at the KC Hall at 6:30 p.m. by directors Mary Jane Pesek and Bethany Smrkovsky.Entry forms are ready for pickup at the home of Mary Jane Pesek, 824 Oakland Road.

Urban graduates Summa Cum Laude from A&M

Amanda Marie Urban graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas A&M University on Thursday May 8 at the 9 a.m. commencement ceremony held at Reed Area in College Station.Urban earned a bachelor of science in political science with a minor in history.

American Legion Post 143 and Auxiliary have awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Daniel Bowling (right), 2025 graduate of Flatonia High School. He plans to study telecommunications at TSTC in Waco. American Legion Post 143 and Auxiliary presented four scholarships at the Schulenburg High School Senior Scholarship Banquet. Recipients were (starting second from left) Marshall Wellborn, Mikayla Otto, Alton Herzik and John Davis, who each received a $1,000 scholarship. Presenters were Dennis Olsovsky, scholarship committee chairman, and Harvey Oeding. Post 143 awarded a total of seven scholarships this year.
