Boys & Girls Club members enjoy ‘Shop With A Cop’ prior to Christmas

Shop With A Cop for Boys & Girls Clubs of Champion Valley members took place on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2024 at Columbus Walmart and it was a huge success! Club members from Weimar, Schulenburg and Columbus got to enjoy shopping with an officer and had so much fun.

Stanzel Museum names poster contest winners

Stanzel Museum is excited to announce the winners of the International CivilAviation Day poster contest, open to students in grades 1-5 at Schulenburg Elementary, St. Rose of Lima Catholic School, Weimar Elementary and St. Michael’s Catholic School.

Schulenburg Junior Livestock Show preshow winners named

Livestock exhibitors competed at the Schulenburg Junior Livestock Show preshow on Saturday, Dec. 14. The 2025 Schulenburg Junior Livestock Show will be held Thursday through Saturday, Jan. 23-25, with the premium sale set for Saturday, Jan. 25 at 6 p.m.
Champion Junior Team – The Fayette County Maroon Team won the championship in the junior division. Team members were (from left) Laramie Laake of the La Grange 4-H, Adalyn Carrales of the Flatonia 4-H, Alexis Berckenhoff of the Flatonia 4-H and Tatum Fritsch of the Fayetteville 4-H.Individually, Tatum Fritsch was the high point junior, Laramie Laake was seventh, Adalyn Carrales was eighth and Alexis Berckenhoff was ninth.

4-H’ers judge livestock at Wilson County contest

Nine Fayette County 4-H members competed in the Wilson County Livestock Judging Contest on Saturday, Dec. 14 in Floresville.Besides the participants pictured, Hailey Janish of the Fayetteville 4-H judged as an individual in the senior division.

Lions taking scholarship applications

The Schulenburg Lions Club announces the opening of applications for 2025 scholarships.Traditional scholarships provide up to $1,000 for graduating high school seniors. An application can be obtained from Allison Machac at SISD and will be due to Lions on April 25, 2025.

Twenty-four Fayette County 4-H’ers competed in the 2024 District 11 4-H Food Show and Food Challenge contest on Tuesday, Dec. 10 and Wednesday, Dec. 11 in Cuero.Six Fayette County teams qualified for the Food Challenge.

Last week during Power Hour at the Schulenburg Unit of the Boys & Girls Club, members participated in a puzzle challenge, racing against each other to complete a puzzle in the shortest time possible. The first group to finish was declared the winner.
