TX coast children’s art contest entries sought

Commissioner Dawn Buckingham M.D. announced that the Texas General Land Office (GLO) is currently accepting entries in the 28th annual Treasures of the Texas Coast Children’s Art Contest. This contest is facilitated through the GLO Adopt-ABeach Program.

Navidad Valley CattleWomen award first-ever collegiate scholarships

For the first time ever, Navidad Valley CattleWomen have awarded collegiate scholarships, with two recipients receiving a total of $2,000. Applications were received from young men and women who both had and had not received a scholarship from CattleWomen when they graduated from high school.

The Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce was so excited to be Santa’s helper this past Christmas season by collecting letters written by local children and sending them to the North Pole.

Blinn schedules two medication aide courses

Blinn College is offering two medication aide courses this spring. A certified medication aide course will be offered for actively employed certified nurse aides with a high school diploma or GED. The class will meet from 3 to 7 p.m.

Atencio-Prada graduates from West Texas A&M

A total of 878 students graduated from West Texas A&M University during fall 2023 commencement. Listed as a graduate from Schulenburg is Adrian Atencio-Prado, who received a bachelor of business administration in marketing.

Scholarships available thru St. Rose CDA Court

Scholarships are available from the Catholic Daughters at the local and state levels. The Texas State Court sponsors the Memorial Scholarship. Those eligible to apply are graduating seniors in accredited high schools who are related to living CDA members in good standing.

Blinn-Schulenburg offers Leisure Learning classes

The Blinn College-Schulenburg campus will hold four Leisure Learning classes ranging from natural health remedies to organic ranching. The classes are Natural Health Remedies, Central Texas Vegetable Gardening, Ranching Organically and Rural Living with Wildlife.
