Fayette County 4-H Food Challenge winners named

Seventeen junior and intermediate Fayette County 4-H Food Challenge teams competed in the Fayette County 4-H Food Challenge. In the junior division, 11 teams competed The Beefmasters won grand champion junior team.

Shorthorns Forever awards $3,960.36 in grants

The Shorthorns Forever Association voted to award another round of grants to Schulenburg ISD teachers in October. A total of $3,960.36 was given at this time to help further the education of students.

4-H’ers enter Brazos Valley livestock judging contest

TRTA thanks Texas voters for passage of Proposition 9

The Texas Retired Teacher Association (TRTA) applauds the passage of Proposition 9 which was on the ballot in the Nov. 7 Constitutional Amendment Election. Prop 9 will provide muchneeded financial relief for 420,000 annuitants of the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS).
Jaxson Hanel (seated), a senior at Lake Creek High School in Montgomery ISD, signed a letter of intent on Wednesday, Nov. 8 to play baseball for the University of St. Thomas in Houston. Hanel is the grandson of Harlan and Betty Guettermann of Schulenburg. FEC taking applications for 2024 Youth Tour to D.C.

Fayette Electric Cooperative will again sponsor two high school students from its service area to participate in the Government-in-Action Youth Tour, a week-long guided trip to Washington, D.C., scheduled for June 16-23, 2024.

Tickets go on sale for UIL Football State Championships

Tickets for the 2023 UIL Football State Championships being played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington are available for purchase. All 11-man and six-man football championships will be played at the same location. Tickets may be purchased online through Seatgeek.com.
