City-wide cleanup slated on three dates in October

The City of Schulenburg has scheduled its fall citywide cleanup – open only to customers who live inside the city limits and pay monthly garbage fees – on the following dates: Sat., Oct. 14.........8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wed., Oct. 18............9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sat., Oct. 21.........8 a.m. to 3:30 p.

Hunter safety certification course set

Deer season opens on Saturday, Nov. 4, and the regulations require any person born after Sept. 1, 1971 to have an official hunter education certificate to hunt in Texas. Friends of the Weimar Public Library will offer a second hunter safety certification class for those unable to attend in July.

Soil, water, hay testing campaign set Oct. 3-26

A soil, water and hay testing campaign is being conducted from Oct. 3-25 by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service of Fayette County, in conjunction with the Fayette County Commissioners Court and Fayette County Groundwater Conservation District.

Republican Party meeting to focus on amendments

Fayette County Republican Party will host its fourth quarter meeting on Saturday, Oct. 21 at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club, 575 Country Club Drive in La Grange, from 9:30 a.m. until noon. There will be an open discussion of the 14 proposed constitutional amendments on the Nov.

Great State Republicans receive two awards at national convention

Great State Republicans won two awards at the National Federation of Republican Women Biennial Convention held in Oklahoma City, Okla. on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 30 and Oct. 1.

Nationwide test for two alert systems set Oct. 4

Angela Hahn, Fayette County emergency management coordinator, shares a press release which states that federal agencies were planning to broadcast a message to cell phones, televisions and radios across the U.S. in early October to test the nation’s emergency alert systems.
