Deputy makes arrests during traffic stops near Engle

Deputy Cody Williams made two arrests on Sunday, Oct. 15 as the result of traffic stops, according to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek. At approximately 2:15 a.m., Deputy Williams stopped a vehicle on Interstate 10 in the Engle area for a traffic infraction.

Hunter safety education course set in La Grange

A hunter safety education course will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Fayette CountyAgricultural Building in La Grange. Six hours of instruction is required to receive a hunter safety certificate. Instructor will be Bobby Eichler of La Grange.

Area Sales Tax Allocations

October sales tax allocations total $1.1 billion

Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced on Wednesday, Oct. 11 that he was sending cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.1 billion in local sales tax allocations for October, 4.5 percent more than in October 2022.

Republican Party meeting to focus on amendments

Fayette County Republican Party will host its fourth quarter meeting on Saturday, Oct. 21 at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club, 575 Country Club Drive in La Grange, from 9:30 a.m. until noon. There will be an open discussion of the 14 proposed constitutional amendments on the Nov.
