Sales Tax Allocations

August sales tax allocations total $1.2 billion

Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced on Wednesday, Aug. 9 that he was sending cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.2 billion in local sales tax allocations for August, 2.8 percent more than in August 2022.

Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports that officers responded to 64 calls for service and five reportable incidents were investigated during the week of Aug. 6-12.

Young Farmers hay show entry deadline is Aug. 12

The Schulenburg Young Farmers will hold their 56th annual Hay Show on Wednesday, Aug. 30 and Thursday, Aug. 31 in conjunction with the Fayette County Fair in La Grange. Judging will take place at 1 p.m. onAug. 30 at the Emily Fritsch Pavilion at the Fairgrounds. The hay sale will begin at 8 p.m.

Ballot order drawn for proposed amendments

The ballot order for 14 proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution was drawn by Deputy Secretary of State Joe Esparza on Friday,Aug. 4. Texans will vote on these amendments as a part of the Nov. 7 Election.

New landowner program to cover bees and trees

The next meeting in the 2023 multi-county new landowner series will take place on Friday, Aug. 18 at Immaculate Conception German Catholic Church Parish Hall, 15994 TX-159, Industry.
