Three individuals from South Carolina were arrested on drug charges as the result of a traffic stop conducted near Engle on Saturday, Aug. 19, according to a report from the Fayette County Sheriff's Office. At approximately 10:35 p.m.

Citizens assist in arrest of subject

In the early morning hours of Friday, Aug. 18, a call was received by dispatch in reference to a subject trespassing on property near the Fayetteville area, according to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek.

July 2023 Sheriff Keith Korenek reports these activities of Fayette County deputies for July. Detective Marc Bennett is working numerous cases involving children as victims in Fayette County. Several cases remain under investigation and approximately four cases have charges being filed.

TPWD leases access sites on Brazos, San Marcos rivers

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is increasing public fishing and paddling opportunities in the state thanks to the addition of two leased river access sites through the River Access & Conservation Area (RACA) program. The new sites are located on the Brazos and San Marcos rivers.

Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced on Wednesday, Aug. 9 that he was sending cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.2 billion in local sales tax allocations for August, 2.8 percent more than in August 2022.

Young Farmers hay show entry deadline is Aug. 12

The Schulenburg Young Farmers will hold their 56th annual Hay Show on Wednesday, Aug. 30 and Thursday, Aug. 31 in conjunction with the Fayette County Fair in La Grange. Judging will take place at 1 p.m. onAug. 30 at the Emily Fritsch Pavilion at the Fairgrounds. The hay sale will begin at 8 p.m.
