The Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) is accepting public comments on a petition by the NorthAmerican Number Planning Administrator (NANPA) for the addition of a new area code to accommodate continuing growth in the greater Houston area. Comments must be submitted by Saturday, Aug. 5.

Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports that officers responded to 47 calls for service and two reportable incidents were investigated during the week of July 8-14. Included were one warrant arrest and one disturbance.

Af ter attempting to flee on a motorcycle, a Sealy man was taken into custody on an active federal arrest warrant by law enforcement officers.

Information about a wanted subject with an active federal arrest warrant staying in the La Grange area was received by the Fayette County Narcotics Unit on Wednesday afternoon, June 29, according to Sheriff Keith Korenek.

After three long years, the Fayette Electric Cooperative inperson annual meeting is back, and members are asked to mark their calendars for Wednesday, July 19. The meeting will be held at the KC Community Center located at 190 South Brown St. in La Grange. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
