Texans asked to conserve energy in heat wave The agency that operates the power grid for much of the state asked Texans to conserve energy use several times last week as the grid was beset with high demand and low wind-power generation, according to the Austin American- Statesman.

Deputy rescues lady, dog from burning house

A 911 call reporting a structure fire, with someone still in the house who could not get out, was received by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday, Aug. 16 around 9:38 p.m., according to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek.

Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports that officers responded to 71 calls for service and four reportable incidents were investigated during the week of Aug. 13-19. Included were open container, minor in possession of tobacco, possession of drug paraphernalia and towed junk vehicle. •Aug.

A traffic stop in the Flatonia area resulted in a drug arrest on Friday, Aug. 18, according to a report from the Fayette County Sheriff's Office. At approximately 9:45 p.m., Deputy Cody Williams made the traffic stop on a vehicle for an infraction.
