The Schulenburg Post Office participated in “Stamp Out Hunger” on Saturday, May 13 and recently delivered over 250 pounds of nonperishable food to the Schulenburg Area Food Pantry. “Stamp Out Hunger” is held annually by the U.S. Postal Service on the second Saturday in May.

Texas House impeaches AG Paxton The Texas House voted overwhelmingly to impeach Attorney General Ken Paxton Saturday, only the third time in the state’s history that has occurred.

Recycle Center location in Schulenburg has new hrs.

The Fayette County Recycling Center Schulenburg location has the following new hours: •Mondays and Wednesdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. •Fridays and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is hoped that adding the new Friday hours will help alleviate some of the congestion on Saturday mornings.

The Fayette County Commissioners Court signed a proclamation designating June 19 as Emancipation Day in Fayette County. The proclamation states that “the Commissioners Court of Fayette County recognizes the great contributions that its African-American citizens have made to Fayette County.

The fire chiefs of the 10 different departments in Fayette County met in La Grange on Tuesday, May 16. The meeting was organized by Fayette County Judge Dan Mueller, Precinct 4 Commissioner Drew Brossmann and Fayette County Emergency Management Coordinator Angela Hahn.

April 2023 Sheriff Keith Korenek reports these activities of Fayette County deputies for the April. Sgt. Angela Lala filed charges on a sex offender who failed to register a change of address within seven days of moving. Sgt. Ron Naumann took a report of a burglary in the Warrenton area.
