Young Farmers have program on rain water

The Schulenburg Young Farmers held their monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 24 at the Schulenburg Expo Center. Chair for the meeting was Janice Muehr (right), who introduced Martin Payne (left). The program was on rain water collection for the home and ranch.

Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports that during the week of March 22-28, officers responded to 97 calls for service and three reportable incidents were investigated as follows: •March 22 – Officer Powe conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 10 westbound for a wanted person.

Public warning system to be tested

The Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) has announced a statewide test of local alerting systems to evaluate effectiveness and functionality of these public warning tools. The planned drill will be Thursday, April 2.

Copper wire theft reported

On Tuesday, March 17, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department posted on social media that it is investigating a major copper theft. It occurred just off of Highway 71 westbound near Kirtley Road on Saturday night, March 14 between 11 p.m. and midnight.

Free dental care to be offered here Mar. 27-28

The Smithville Community Clinic Health on Wheels (HoW) dental van will visit Schulenburg on March 27–28 bringing free dental services to uninsured adult (18+) residents in the community. The mobile dental clinic will be located at Wolters Park, with appointments available each day from 8 a.m.
