The Fayette County Commissioners Court designated the week of May 21-27 as Emergency Medical Services Week in Fayette County by signing a proclamation on Thursday, May 11.

Deputies, officers attend crisis intervention training

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and as such Sheriff Keith Korenek is pleased to report that from April 20-22, a number of deputies and police department officers from Fayette County attended the Texas Crisis Intervention Team Association conference in Sugar Land.

Recycle Center location in Schulenburg has new hrs.

The Fayette County Recycling Center Schulenburg location has the following new hours: •Mondays and Wednesdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. •Fridays and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is hoped that by adding the new Friday hours this will help alleviate some of the congestion on Saturday mornings.

Police Report

Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports that officers responded to 107 calls for service and nine reportable incidents were investigated during the week of April 29 through May 5.

Fayette County Tax Assessor office moving

The Fayette County Tax Assessor/ Department of Motor Vehicles for titling and registration, is moving to 143 North Main St. in La Grange (next to Lukas Bakery, west of the Courthouse). The office will be closed on Wednesday, May 10 to move and will reopen on Thursday, May 11.
