Veterans Land Board ups VLB home loan amount

Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham announces that the Veterans Land Board (VLB) has approved an increase for the VLB home loan amount from $647,200 to $726,200. “In 2022, the VLB assisted over 1,760 veterans and their families with purchasing a home,” said Commissioner Buckingham.

Texas again leads state in new corporate projects Texas once again has topped the list for new and expanded corporate facilities added in a year, according to Site Selection Magazine. With 1,028 new projects in 2022, the state had more than the next two states combined – Illinois and Ohio.

Courthouse tours offered 2nd, 4th Sat.

The Fayette County Historical Commission is leading tours of the Courthouse on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month. The tours will start at Founder’s Park at 11 a.m. on those days.

Numerous drugs found in traffic stop near La Grange

Drug charges were filed against a Houston man following a traffic stop on Friday, Feb. 24 near La Grange, according to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek. Sheriff Korenek reports that at approximately 11:47 p.m., Sgt. Ryan Meagher stopped a 2015 Toyota Camry for expired registration (03/2022).

Beekeeping School in Brenham to have Flow Hive session

Cedar Anderson, co-inventor of the Flow Hive, will join the Central Texas Beekeeping School on Saturday, April 1 via Skype from Australia. His company, Flow, has also donated a Flow Hive 2 to be given away during the program, which will be held at Brenham High School.
