Texas leads nation in jobs added The Lone Star State continues to lead the nation in jobs added with 58,200 new positions in February, bringing the state to nearly 14 million total nonfarm jobs, according to the Texas Workforce Commission.

Bicycle stopped for traffic violation, drug arrest made

On Tuesday, April 4 at approximately 12:06 a.m., Sgt. Ryan Meagher conducted a traffic stop on a bicycle for a traffic violation in the La Grange area, according to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek. During contact with the subject, probable cause was established and a search was conducted.

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and CASA of Bastrop, Fayette & Lee Counties is raising awareness of the need for more dedicated members of the community to step up and become CASA volunteers, and help end child abuse and neglect, through supporting children and their families.

Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports that officers responded 59 calls for services and seven reportable incidents were investigated during the week of March 18-24.

Public Safety Telecommunicators Week proclaimed

Each year, the second full week of April is recognized as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week to honor the dedicated men and women who answer 9-1-1 calls on a daily basis and who are the true backbone of the 9-1-1 system nationwide.
