Retiring senator named Secretary of State Retiring state Sen. Jane Nelson, R-Flower Mound, has been named the next secretary of state by Gov. Greg Abbott. She replaces John Scott, who announced his resignation effective at year’s end.

The 2022 Lady Horn volleyball team members accept a proclamation, along with flowers, at Monday night’s Schulenburg City Council meeting. They were honored for their performance during this past season, when they won the District 27-2A championship and reached the Class 2A state semifinals.
